At midnight, curl up together on the couch for your first night of Indie Sex!
Tonight is the first of four specials in the miniseries event Indie Sex, a revealing look at sex in cinema, showing on the International Film Channel (IFC). This titillating series features burlesque queen Dita Von Teese and a host of actors and directors sharing clips and talking about sex on film.
Censored
The first show, Censored, examines how images in film have been regulated and questions who decides whether sex and nudity can be shown. Look for revealing commentary by Rosanna Arquette ("After Hours"), Peter Sarsgaard ("Kinsey"), and director Martha Coolidge ("Sex in the City").
Taboos
Taboos are explored on the second night, with a look at how indie films feature sex and less mainstream images of sexuality. Not surprisingly, the envelope-pushing writer/director John Waters ("Pink Flamingos") uncovers the dirt.
Teens
Speaking of taboos, the third night is all about Teens and sex, from 1950s sweater girls to explicit contemporary films to the role of film in sex education. Former teen heartthrobs Tatum O'Neal ("Little Darlings") and Ally Sheedy ("Breakfast Club") share their experiences as young actors.
Extremes
The last night is a tribute to Extremes, the most controversial sex scenes (simulated and real) to appear on screen. Actor John Cameron Mitchell ("Hedwig and the Angry Inch") and Paris-based filmmaker Catherine Breillat ("Aventure de Catherine C.") take on this hot topic.
