Shop for your home with style and convenience by visiting two upscale design stores that share the same address in Tribeca. Although both are national chains, each store has a decidedly local feel with solid roots in the community.
Design Within Reach
More than just a store, Design Within Reach is an interactive studio where design lovers congregate to discuss ideas and try out new products. The 2400-square-foot Tribeca store is one of five DWC studios in Manhattan, with another in Brooklyn and several on Long Island.
DWC specializes in mid-century design and "fully-licensed classics," which are products manufactured by the company that holds the license to the original design. You won't find any unauthorized reproductions here. We love their sofa collection, like the whimsical Marshmallow Sofa by George Nelson and the Free Form Sofa by famed sculptor Isamu Noguchi. Check out the fascinating and extensive designer bios on their website to find out more about Nelson, Noguchi, and nearly a hundred other designers whose products are carried by the store.
Pompanoosuc Mills
At the Pompanoosuc Mills showroom next door, you'll find classics of a different kind. Handcrafted in Vermont, the striking hardwood furnishings are a beautiful and long-lasting addition to any room in your home. Pieces are made to order, so you get to choose from a variety of standard sizes and types of wood, as well as from thousands of fabrics for upholstered items. Their beautiful bedroom collection includes the elegant Gramercy Bed and this lovely lingerie chest. There's also a full range of home accents like clocks, wall art, and mirrors.
